Taylor
Taylor Swift, the rarest pop star, is one who managed to move between the genres of country and mainstream pop culture and become an icon of the pop culture. Swift also took on all over the world in the process. Swift removed herself from the country genre like a second skin, and revealed that she had the best pop sensibility in her time. Swift was the only musician/singer to take the popular zeitgeist on the road. These skills were evident on her first hits, particularly the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out her true identity and in the process finding the mass market. Fearless had a great success not only in the United States, having six platinum-certified singles. The Top Ten songs Love Story & the hit song You Belong with Me were the main reasons for this. But, it also did exceptionally well throughout the world. Swift was able to consolidate her success by releasing Speak Now almost two year following. She grew in popularity over the course of the three albums that followed - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in an industry she felt was hers to be. When she reduced her sound by releasing stripped-down albums like 2020, folklore and Evermore however, she remained at the top. This position was maintained by re-recordings from her past catalog as well as Midnights, her synth-heavy chart-topping 2022 album.
