Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of the football scholarship of his family and service to the community. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of the nine children raised in Eufala by Lucious Selmon. Another reason for his football career was that his father was the only of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the United States. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. Also, they won 2 national titles. In 1975, he was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was named an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in his time in college. He settled down in Tampa after graduation, and was a member of the Buccaneers for nine years and played three times in the all-pro league. His career in business began. His first job was as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being one of the top 10 young men from the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. In 1975, he led the group. In 1993, he joined the University of South Fla's athletic department as its assistant director. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
